The Penina Golf Academy offers extensive and specifically tailored programs to individual players or groups of children, seniors, families, or simply friends, be it a three or five-day program or simply for a few hours to perfect specific game techniques. Our philosophy and focus of golf instruction is to help you learn and improve your golf; offering you more than just a perfect golf swing; we offer you the complete vision and understanding of the game of golf!

STATE OF THE ART DRIVING RANGE

The resort features a new Driving Range, already considered one of the best in Europe, with a capacity for up to 70 golfers and 12 covered practice bays.

In 2008, this exceptional facility reopened to guests and clients presenting a new display: addition of target greens, putting green, chipping green and practice bunker.

The practice facility area was raised to ensure positive drainage and a new irrigation system was installed. For better access a new bridge was built, new cart paths and cart parking areas were also added.

Meet Our PGA Golf Professionals:

Bart

Bart van der Wind is from Holland (Haarlem). He started playing golf when he was 20 and turned pro when he was 22. Since becoming a qualified professional he has worked at various golf clubs in Holland, including Het Rijk van Nijmegen, De Golfhorst and Het Rijk van Nunspeet.

After providing tuition lessons and clinics, Bart decided to dedicate his efforts to one area of the game and began specializing as a putting coach. In 2007, Bart attended the Accredited Instructor Level 1 course., and by 2008 he was one of the first professionals to complete Level 2 in Southport. In march 2008 he launched, in conjunction with Yes!Golf Europe, a specialist putting centre in Eindhoven.

Bart's golf tuition and clinics, offers players a personal fitting of their equipment, in turn improving their putting stroke. Lessons can be presented in Dutch, German and English.

Marcelino

José Marcelino had the pleasure of being Sir Henry Cotton's assistant in 1971 and turned professional in 1983. He has been a PGA Professional at Penina Golf Academy since 1991, successfully dominating ultimate golf techniques.

Marcelino played in several professional events including the Portuguese Opens, the Portuguese professional golf circuit and several ProAms.

Marcelino's tuition skills include putting, short game, long game, driver and long woods; his speciality being being bunker play. He is fluent in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish, and speaks a little Italian and German.

José Lourenço is from Portugal and has been teaching the game of golf at Penina for the last 35 years. After having assisted British PGA player, Mr Wilson from 1967 until 1969, José was also had the privilege to be Sir Henry Cotton's assistant for six years.

His credentials include working with several golf professionals such as Mr Dick Greenway, Peter Jones, Howard Bennett and Peter Dawson (Ryder Cup Player). In 1991 he was awarded Teaching Professional of the Year by Algarve Golf (formerly known as Golf Sul).

José Lourenço's teaching techniques are surely to guarantee noticeable improvement for experienced golfers as well as the base techniques for novices to begin enjoying this challenging game.
